Energy-conscious lighting

Lighting accounts for a substantial part of worldwide energy consumption. Usage of energy-efficient lamps can already reduce this consumption considerably. Lamps manufacturers are obliged by EU directives to mark their products with an energy label on the packaging. As a manufacturer of lighting systems ELEKTRA is not obliged to classify these lighting products. But in an effort to create more transparency for our customers we indicate in our catalogue the energy class for fluorescent and LED lamps used in our products.

“On account of directive 98/11/EG (Energy labelling of household lamps) and due to the Regulation for Energy Consumption Labelling of 26.11.99 transposed into German Law lamps for use in households must be marked with an energy label. This label shows the categorization into one of seven classes A to G, whereas A stands for “very efficient” and G for “low efficient”. One main criterion for the classification is the light output describing as the ratio of Lumen (lm) to Watt (W) how much light a lamp generates from the energy used. [...]
In cases where the luminaire’s packaging includes the lamp, either without separate lamp packaging or with individual lamp packaging, there is no requirement for energy labelling of the luminaire.“
